ballerina girl

i have been looking forward to today for soo long. it was my baby girl's first day of dance. i was afraid she would hate it, which would make me so sad. all she's been talking about is wanting to take swim lessons like aaron. but thanks to our friend blakeley, em was super excited to go. (i showed her all the cute pics of blakeley in her tutus going to dance class from her blog). em kept asking me if her friend "bake-ye" would be in class with her and saying, "i want to meet her." (me, too!) she seemed okay after i told her that blakeley lived far away, by bevo.

they don't wear tights or shoes for class yet, which is why her outfit is a little incomplete. and no requirement for pulling back her hair either, so we got to wear our "gigantic bow"
oh yeah...found out once we got home that daddy put em's leotard on backwards! poor thing!

practicing first position with mommy

she did this on her own

the classroom didn't have any windows, and i told em we would be watching her through the windows. uh oh. i was preparing for a meltdown, but emily did GREAT! she peeked inside the room beforehand and told us, "i will go in there with my teacher and you will watch me on that tv?!"

making sure we will watch her on the tv

peeking in (note to self, must remove the tag on her dance skirt)

yes, we recorded the tv during class

when the teacher came out to introduce herself, emily ran right up to her, and thus became the class "line leader." she went right into the classroom and chose her spot/carpet square. donnie and i were amazed that she followed directions so well. she was the most perfect little ballerina.

my line leader

her teacher's name is ms. kendall

class is dismissed! she was pretty proud of her sticker.

look at this long hair! time for a cut :(

in other em news:

em went to the doctor on friday and was a very good girl. she is a whopping 33 lbs (clothed, so let's say 32 ish) and 36.5 inches.

she also got her flu shot (in the form of a nasal spray. again, no tears!)

she has been going to the potty at school well and even went a couple of times for us at home this weekend. she still prefers to go in her diaper...right after she gets off the potty to "try" but at least she's trying!

Such a precious prima ballerina! Blakeley and Emily would just be too cute together. I don't know if I could stand it. So glad she liked dancing class!
