emmy-isms at t minus 2 months until baby girl is 4!

this post is long overdue. since i lost all of my notes for months 42-45 (3.5-3.75 yrs), i'll try my best to remember some of my favorites. most of these will be from the last 6 weeks or so, though...better known as the time post donnie wiping my iphone without backing anything up. ha. can you sense my sarcasm?

anyway, in the 4 months since i last posted one of em's monthly posts, she seems to be moving further and further away from a toddler. how does this happen when i do more than my share to baby her?! "mommy, i have to grow up. i'm getting bigger everyday!" as if i need to be reminded... :(

• one of the funniest things is em has found a new "lovey."  she calls it "pilates shut" because, well, it's my pilates shirt.  it's this super soft tee from j.crew.  she discovered it in my closet and has not parted with it since.  i have 2 of these so we switch them out while em is sleeping. 
• she changed her name to "rapunzel for ever and ever."  you can just call her "rapunzel kate", though.  and when she plays teacher, her name is "mrs. rapunzel moak."  mrs. moak is one her teachers at school.
• she also likes to play pretend and often talks about her family when she grows up.  "my childs will be belle, rapunzel, ariel, and zoe (a friend from school)."  btw, she wants to be a mommy and a teacher when she grows up.  i tell her to add in doctor as well, just like mrs. wendi.  em is almost convinced :)
• before i left my old job, i was checking out early so that i could pick em up from school before the after school care started.  i would watch her from my car (how creepy) and saw the sweetest thing.  these little 3 and 4 year old girls are already braiding each other's hair and fixing bows and headbands.  so cute.
• i mentioned it briefly earlier, but i started a new job in september.  after 7 years of being a litigation attorney, i retired.  i joined the energy business as an in-house landman and have not regretted it for even a minute.  even when i'm rolling out of bed at 5 am so i can be at the office at 6.  (sigh).  the way i look at it, i'm done at 4 and can pick up my baby girl each day from school.  AND, i get every other friday off.  not to be taken the wrong way, but i like to say this is my new part-time, full-time job.  at least that's what it feels like.  the downside, because isn't there always a downside?, is that i leave before my family, and the sun, get up.  em is getting used to daddy getting her ready for school.  "daddy does my hair crazy.  but he's getting better, mommy."  one evening, though, she told me that she wanted "mommy and daddy to trade places so that mommy can take me to school."  i wish i could be there more often, too.
• for breakfast, she loves "mash ups"...those gross organic fruit pouches.  she will almost always say yes to those.
• we went to dallas for ou weekend and stayed with em's "cousins" reesey and harper.  they had a slumber party in harper's room.  an hour after the cousins went to sleep, our little one was still wide awake.  i think she was just too excited.  when i laid down with her, em whispered this: "mommy, harper has a soccer game tomorrow.  so mommy.  when we get home, you need to sign me up."  i guess i'll put that on my to do list for spring since we missed fall registration.
• sorry, these are just so random.  i'm going down my notes from my phone and am too lazy to put them in any sort of order.  em does great going no. 2 on the potty by herself.  but sometimes when she is having a hard time, she will want me to come in with her.  then she told me her "trick."  "to poop, you need to curl your toes.  if no blob comes out, you need to uncurl them and then curl them again."  are you serious? 
• speaking of, she likes to add "i'm serious" to a lot of stuff.  silly stuff.  like, "i want to show you my drawing.  i'm serious."
• em always likes to go up the stairs in front of me.  sometimes i'll chase behind her and grab her.  she has started to tell me, "i'm going to go upstairs first.  mommy, don't get my butt."  and then she laughs and laughs.  i guess i better stop doing that.  sounds sort of weird when i read it...
• uncle trey likes to make fun of the way em says things.  here are a few funny pronunciations: heaw-fy (healthy), heel (hill), mo-ski-toes (mosquitos), sweet fish (swedish fish), sneekers (snickers), on-oh-matically (automatically), dowm (down), and she also says the letter "L" funny, but i can't figure out how to write it phoenetically. 
• when she hugs me really tight, she will say, "eeeeeeee!" it's adorable.
• "god put that in my head".  that's what she says when i ask her how she knows so much.  "god also gave you hairs in your nose so when your boogies get in there...uh, i don't know what else mrs. steele said."  i'm telling you, i am constantly laughing at her.
• she knows how to curl her tongue.
• for her first couple of weeks of school, she liked to put a "kissing hand" sticker on the inside tab of her dress uniform.  that way, whenever she was sad or missed us, she would just have to look at the sticker and remember the kissing hand.  thank you auntie elna for the sweet book.
• she has been big on doing the, "i love you.  i love you more.  i love you most" thing.  i'm pretty certain she has no idea how much this means to me.
• she really has been obsessed with mommy latetly.  she likes to press herself up against me when she hugs me so she can "feel [my] hot skin." 
• " daddy, i can't sleep with you snoring!"  she was much nicer about that than i would have been.
• "mommy, whose nose do i have? [auntie's] whose lips do i have? [mommy's], whose feet do i have? [daddy's].  gross.  daddy is gross because he's a boy."
• auntie elna picks em up from school every once in a while.  now that em and aaron are at different schools, they really miss each other.  i got this text from e one afternoon- "when a and i got to em's class...a: hi, baby girl!  em: aaron!!  mrs. steele: awww, bless their hearts.  that's just too sweet!  when leaving- em: i love you mrs. steele!  mrs. s: i love you, too, emily.  mrs. s to elna: she's my little hugger.  in the car- aaron: i love you, emily.  em: i love you, aaron. (then to auntie) auntie, he's my cousin and he takes care of me."  now that they aren't together each day, i've noticed a change in the way they interact.  e.g., when aaron is loving too hard...as in he's about to pinch the crap out of her...i will stop him.  em gets mad and says, "he's just loving on me!" 
• baby girl, stinky, and memsicles are auntie's "love" names for em.
• btw, we had our first parent teacher conference.  her teachers "just luuuuhhve her!" 
• she can spell the names of all her classmates.  they don't teach her that at school, but she's picked it up by just observing (according to her teachers).
• she has a cat at home that she's named bessie.  that's because during farm month at school, her teacher brought in a stuffed cow named bessie. 
• she plays make believe by herself at home.  i overheard this one evening: "okay, circle time.  this is a lizard.  it starts with a "L".  raise your hand if you have a L in your name." 
• during chapel, the principal will ask the kids questions and call on them.  em has never participated, but d said that this tuesday she raised her hand when asked what the kids were thankful for.  em didn't get called on, so donnie asked her what she wanted to say.  she whispered, "disney world!"
• i was sick for about 5 weeks recently.  one day, em woke up and cried, "it feels like i have a hair in my throat."  she was so upset about that.  i hated to tell her i probably got her sick, so we tried our best to clear her throat and get the hair out.  i guess that's what a sore throat feels like to a little kid.
• she catches kisses and puts them in a special place.  it used to be her pocket, then her heart, and now "the guest room."  she likes for me to put my kisses in my heart, though.
• my sister was picking em up after school and taking her to a pumpkin hunt.  em got excited and asked me if she could bring another pumpkin home.  "i don't know.  you'll have to ask auntie." "okay, i will.  and she will say yes.  because she always lets me do whatever i want."  sadly, that's actually true.
• for halloween, em wanted to be rapunzel. and tanner would be pascal, daddy would be flynn, and mommy would be her queen mommy.  whew, so glad i didn't have to be "mother gockel."
• she was so excited for halloween.  i overheard this conversation the day before- em: "tanner, we are going to go trick or treating.  i'll tell you how.  you just walk up to the door and ring the door bell.  then you say trick or treat and they will give you candy!  you have to say 'thank you' always."  true to her word, she said thank you at every single house. 
• at almost 4, she will still belly laugh.  i love it.
• miss brittany is at college in lovevick.  em loves to face time miss brittany.  she comes home from college this week and we are so excited to see her!  we have missed her so much.
• and before i forget, britt sent em the sweetest care package a few weeks ago- an opi mini nail polish set in various purples (em's fave) designed by justin beiber!, chapstick shaped like juicy fruit gum, bracelets, and something else that i've forgotten.  she also wrote em a note.  em carried that note around for a days.  it was so sweet.  thank you brittany!
• warewolves go, "how-woooool!"
• when you correct her or tell her something that isn't new, she'll say, "yes, i know."  but not in a mean way.  in a sweet little girl way. 
• at school, the kids have jobs each week.  em has been the line leader, door holder, back liner, and medic, but never the office manager.  she's been dying to be the office manager.  finally, just a couple of weeks ago, she got the job!  i don't think she loved it as much as she thought.  she prefers line leader.
• speaking of, she got to be the line leader for the class parade.  i think i posted pics earlier?  if not, they will be coming as soon as i catch up on my downloads.
• when she says sweet things to me, she'll ask, "are you gonna cry?"  punk.
• "i like things that are pretty.  like princesses, wedding dresses, weddin's, sparkly things, and lip gloss"
• she loves sharpies.  or permanant markers.  i think because we call them grown up markers.
• she went through a phase where she'd say, "and even" before everything.  "and even we had crackers for snack." 
• "mommy, do i like that?"  or "mommy, do i like spaghetti?"  saying yes only works half the time (to get her to try it).
• at school, they often get new foods to try.  em told me, "i had sweet corn today and i liked it!"  or "mommy, today we had green eggs and ham."  was it gross?  "no!  it was delicious."  last week, they had all sorts of thanksgiving treats, like pumpkin bread, cornbread, turkey sandwiches, and cranberry sauce.  this weekend, em asked me if we could make some pumpkin bread.  so we did.  she loved it.  but probably because we added chocolate chips :)

and that's it!  sorry this post was long, but for those of you who look forward to these, i hope this made up for the months that i skipped it.  so sad that list doesn't include all the other cute/funny things i've forgotten over the months.  i am going to work on getting my posts done timely and my pictures uploaded.  and i'll back up my phone all by myself! :)

hope you all enjoy thanksgiving with your family and friends.  we have so much to be thankful for this year, especially ong completing his chemo and radiation, a (now) healthy nephew, tanner's tumors being benign, and mommy's new job, just to name a few.  it may not have started out a good year, but it sure has turned out to be one.  we are so blessed!
