our day started out way too early since d was running in the lone star stampede again. i think this is his 3rd year. em did NOT want to wake up. donnie pulled her out of bed and held her as he tried to wake her up. she would have nothing to do with it and eventually slid out of his arms and put herself back to sleep on the floor.
still so sleepy. (we had to wear our ballet clothes so we could rush over to class right after daddy finished his run).
she cheered up really fast to go shopping, though. you can see she already picked out another bevo for her doll house. that's where all of her small dollies and stuffed animals live.
there were some crafts set up for kids and a bounce house. em filled up a coke bottle with different color sand. i had to help a little as she was scooping way too slowly and i was afraid we would miss d at the finish line. so we rushed over before the glue could dry (except to my fingers) and got there just in time! d did really well and knocked almost 3 minutes off of his 5k time.
here she is showing off her work of art.
hey adam! we ran into an old friend at the race. i had not seen tiffany or her husband in 5 years, and was so glad to see them! i didn't get to see tiffany or her friend running, but we met up for dinner saturday night. (more to come).
once d finished, em and i rushed off to make it to ballet since it was her 2nd to last class of the year. after ballet, we rushed home to change and head out of town (ha) to pearland for cousin shaylea's 8th birthday celebration. it was at a place called sweet and sassy in pearland town center. first- the town center? sooo cute. it's a new outdoor shopping center that is adorable. it even has a little area that reminds me of discovery green. second- sweet and sassy. it's crazy in there, but is sort of a place for little ones to get pampered. before kids, i would have described a place like this as tacky, tacky, tacky and never allow my future child(ren) to step foot in it. after kids, i would still describe it that way. except i would totally take emily there because she had so much fun! shay had a fashionista party, which meant the girls got to put on costumes, get their hair, makeup, and nails done, walk the run way in a fashion show, learn dances, and sing fun songs.
here is em practicing her cat walk.
sweet emma showing off her new braces :)
getting her hair did (ha)
and her nails painted. purple was her color of choice. i didn't allow them to put anything but lip gloss on her. she's only 3! had i known they were going to make her hair crazy and then spray all this glittery junk in it, i would not have allowed that either. but they did it so fast!
she was so, so excited to be a big girl. notice how she's resting her hands on d's arms so her polish wouldn't get messed up.
can you see the bow in her hair?
and check out this!
em and the birthday girl ready for their debut.
she didn't trip or anything, yay!
posin'

poor thing. i don't know why she was back there. she ran off stage a couple of times, but always ended going right back up.

singing and dancing to her anthem, pretty girl rock. she knew the words better than the 8-9 year olds :) and look at her left foot, hehe.

after they finished onstage, the girls got to go for a limo ride around the shopping center. em thought that was super cool.

seriously, how do 8-9 year olds know how to pose by blowing kisses?!

terrible pic, but had to show you the inside of the limo.

back for pizza and cookie cake. have i told you how much i love taylor and emma?! i do. a lot. they are just the most thoughtful little kids i know. so, so sweet.
we had such a fun time at shaylea's birthday party and cannot believe she is already 8! em was exhausted by the time she got in the car and pretty much whimpered the whole way home because she wanted to play some more.
remember the dinner that i mentioned earlier? it was so fun! tiff- i hope we get to do it again soon!
(lol, notice my hand on adam's shoulder. he thought it would be funny to make faces in the background, so this was my way of keeping tabs on him. so funny).
