(hanging out with auntie tina after school) miss fab-e-ous is 3 and a quarter years old already. how is that possible?! we still have our fair share of temper tantrums (she threatens those a lot. i mean, she straight up tells us, "i will cry."), but oh my goodness, she has also been so sweet. i can hardly stop myself from eating her up!
- dylan said kids go to school and their moms and dads go to work. when the kids are done with school, their moms and dads come home. my sweet em chimes in with, "or their nannies come to pick them up." (tears)
- em and i were discussing clothes- tutu dresses and matching earrings. d tried to say something and em told him, "we're talking about girl stuff daddy. not boy stuff."
- she asks us to "handle" her things- e.g., her purse, her baby. and she calls sleeves and straps on clothes handles, too.
- calls the american girl store the "marian girl store."
- she loves "pretty girl rock."
- she has given me 2 nicknames- bebe and mimi. usually she calls me mimi. and she always says it when she is being really affectionate. i think it's just the sweetest thing ever.
- i forget that she watches and absorbs everything still. we were visiting jenni and she asked me, "how do you run your fingers through your hair, mommy? can you show me?" she loves to toss her hair back.
- she told me, "i love you mommy. (pause). are you going to cry now?" little punk. i once told her she was going to make me cry because she was so sweet. so this is what she asks each time she is sweet to me.
- my sister texted me this, "auntie. i am dressed like a princess today. i am so pretty." i don't even know what to say :)
- one of her favorite books right now is "presenting tallulah" by tori spelling. em calls it "suprenting tallulah." she still loves to read books and tells me "i need to read so i can be smart." not sure that tori spelling will get her there, but whatever works for now...ha.
- i asked em how her day at school was and she said, "talulah told me don't keep up with her. probably because she didn't know she was my best friend. but i still love her." this made me so sad. (as an aside, her teachers did tell me that talulah was sad that day and really just wanted to be by herself).
- there are moments i look at her and wonder how in the world i am so blessed with a kind girl. like when em came home from school and took a picture of her, brittany, and katelyn (britt's friend) and put it up on the fridge.
- she likes to take her little hands and put them close together and ask me, "do you love me this much?" and she'll continue until her arms are wide open.
- at night, she has started hugging me and saying, "have a good night, mommy." i think she hears d tell me to have a good day each morning.
- we still have to remind em to go to the potty. the most telling sign is when she crosses her legs or does a tiny little grab. i saw her do the grab one afternoon and asked her if she needed to potty. "no. i just need to take my underwear out of my butt." lol.
- she loves to have friends to play with. when she goes to the park, she calls the other kids her "new friends." lately, she has started getting upset if d and i plan things with other couples who don't have kids. she will cry and say, "why come they don't have kiddos for me to play with?!" i tried to tell her that not everyone has kids, but she doesn't like that answer at all.
- she loves watching the movie tangled and sings and recites lines from it a lot. "best. day. ever!"
- she likes to go into her closet and pick out her outfits now. in the past, i used to pick 2-3 outfits out and let her have a choice. this doesn't work anymore. "but that dress is not super cute!" (and then she queues the tears).
- "mommy, i need to brush your hair because it looks like a hot mess."
- montana is her favorite state because "it's like hannah montana."
- ong was watching a vietnamese soap opera (or something) really loudly while he was on the treadmill this weekend, so em couldn't hear tangled well. all by herself, she walked downstairs and i heard, "ong! what are you watching?! that's crazy talk!" so funny.
- i love seeing (certain) characteristics of mine in emily. she loves, loves, loves flowers and will always point them out when we are driving. if there are flower beds or wild flowers in the yard, she will run to pick them to give to me.
we went to disney on ice- toy story 3 this weekend. love the forced smile. em told us she liked the princess one better. "it had princesses and fairies and dancing...and it was for girls."
