rodeo weekend!

we look forward to the houston livestock show and rodeo every year. it's sort of the start of spring for us. we started off rodeo season at kdo on friday, where the kids participated in the annual rodeo festival. emily was especially excited to wear her cowgirl boots and denim skirt (because that's what cowgirls wear).
i wish i had taken a picture of all the kiddos this morning. their classroom looks out to the courtyard where there were 2 ponies waiting for them. the kids all lined up at the window to take a peek. em had told me she was going to ride the pink pony that morning. i told her there was no such thing. but then her teacher told me that last week, when the older kids had their go texan/rodeo festival, there was a pony with a pink tale. em wasn't even a little sad, though, when that pony didn't make it to her festival.

these were my contributions to the rodeo fest

posing!

presenting talulah. she is so sassy!

em and aaron making vests. i think the chick fil a cow brought these blow up cows. em did not think he was welcome and kept asking me, "why is the chix away cow here? tell him to go back to the restaurant."

the rodeo committee did such a great job this year. i loved all of the different stations. storytime was part of the vest making station.

after the kids went fishing, they gave their "fish" to ms. phyllis to label and put in the class bag for later. em got a tiny beach ball.

there were bunnies, chickens, and baby chicks at the festival, too. em wanted nothing to do with them.

these pictures were taken for daddy, since he had to miss the fun. (last year, em was too scared to ride the ponies).

taking a break from all the fun. snack and singing/dancing time. (and omg, does she look like a big girl or what?!) aaron always loves the "stuffed animals that are real."

the hair... (and notice the outfit change. so much fun that we forgot to take a potty break).

more hair. she was facing forward and smiling, but got tired of waiting for the little point and shoot camera to snap a picture!

so i made her come back. she wanted me to take a picture of her princess castle so we could show daddy.
after school, the kids enjoyed the real rodeo. soo fun!

(see the dress? told you she wants to wear it all the time).

em and talulah are dancing here.

her first funnel cake!

aww!

it wasn't dark out. not sure why it looks like it is, lol.

em finally got to ride the white pony. meet gem.

the obstacle course. poor em got stuck on the rope ladder. luckily these sweet girls helped her along.

the end of the obstacle course. tah dah!
and as if we didn't have enough of the rodeo, we returned once again on sunday. whew!

and here she is in another tutu dress.
weee! i was so nervous because i had seen so many people go airborne while we waited. sure enough, d and em went flying also. but em said she still had fun :)

goofy kids! i think em's lips are still purple, 2 days later.

another pony ride. glad cowboy was worth the hour wait!
that's (finally) it until next weekend...
[p.s. i finally added pictures from aaron's birthday. scroll down to check out his celebration!]
