i'm told i used to twirl my hair as a child, especially when i was being shy. looks like em is taking after me. em accessorized herself this morning. the first thing she said to me was, "mommy, i want pigtails today!" and so she got them. then she wanted 2 barrettes. until she saw the headband. so she got a headband and pigtails. what can i say, i try to avoid meltdowns, especially in the mornings.
after some "spray," she asked me if she could see her halloween costume. i told her it was in her closet so she ran off. i could hear through the monitor, "mommy, i checkin' on my costume! it's good!" then she came back and showed me her feet. "i wear these tinkerbell flip flops today, okay?" "uh, not really. if you wear those, they will fall off when you play at school because they don't have a back to them." she thought about this and surprised me by agreeing, "okay, i will wear different shoes then." and off she went to her room again. this time she returned with these shoes. "can i wear these shoes, mommy? they have a back. see?"
you know what? they even matched her dress! nevermind that auntie tina said there was "a lot going on" (or something to that effect) with her outfit. i think she looks fabulous. that's a fancy word for great.
