33 months old

she's 2 3/4 years old, y'all. and i'm about to have to start planning her 3rd birthday party. i'm not ready for her to be such a big girl. unless someone tells me that she'll outgrow her sassiness very soon after turning 2 3/4. because wow. she is SASSY.
  • she says por favor, gracias (sounds like grass-ass), and de nada because "that hows you say it in panish".
  • she always asks me, "how do you say ____ in panish?" of course i never know.
  • she has chapel at school once a week. she came home and said, "today i went to chapel. i acted like a monkey. ooh ooh ah ah (insert motion as well)." she told me that the next week, too. so i had to ask the director, who confirmed that they do act like monkeys in chapel. it's the story of creation.
  • she can spell her first and middle names and mommy. she knows what letter each of her friends' names start with and is associating letters with words that start with that letter.
  • she also knows her months and days. and that her birthday is january 16th.
  • "aaron calls my auntie wanker. i call her auntie tina."
  • she also calls aaron "jason." "i want jason's favorite jugo."
  • "dylan is my favorite cousin and aaron is my favorite friend." after we went to dallas (and i just realized i never posted about that. probably b/c i'd prefer to forget about the OU game), her favorite friend was reesey.
  • tanner sprained his shoulder this month and had a bad limp for a while. (he's okay, now! poor little dude). em heard donnie and i discussing how he may have done that; we thought maybe it was from jumping onto our bed and missing. em said, "i called the doctor and the doctor said, 'no more tanner hurting his leg.'" clever.
  • oh, she's just now pronouncing her L's correctly. they don't sound like Y's so much anymore.
  • she describes things as "comfy," which makes me smile.
  • she role plays and is often our doctor or teacher. then she makes us sit "criss cross apple sauce." i don't know about you, but when i was a kid, it was called "indian style."
  • she sometimes picks up sticks and pretends they are (water) guns. she'll say, "be-ew, be-ew, be-ew. mommy, i shootin' you with a water gun!" then she'll run up to me and grab my leg or hug me and say, "i savin' you!"
  • she says "yes you MAY," or "no you CAN'T do that," or "yes i DO." me: "em, can i have a bite of your scone?" em: "um hmm mommy. yes you MAY."
  • she is applying concepts she learned from dora to everyday. e.g., she will tell me, "first you go to the zoo, then you go by the bears, and that hows you get to the wild dogs."
  • she always says "that hows" or "that whys"
  • she told donnie to do her hair "like mommy." for clarification, she added, "mommy makes a pony tail first, then puts the clip in." i don't know why this makes me so happy.
  • she told me she wanted my burt's bees chapstick to be hers, not mine.
  • for a while, i kept hearing emily say the word "tuffaway." i thought she was just making it up. so i just laughed at her. but last week, daddy stayed home with her and took her to the zoo to see the new baby elephant and to chick-fil-a. when i got home, she told me what she did and that she went to tuffaway. huh? what's that? "it wheres i get chicken and french fries." bless her heart, i must have asked her what she wanted for dinner so many times and ignored her response for tuffaway because i thought she was being silly. don't judge.
  • she has a lovey. it's a little puppy that came with her barefoot dreams (i think that's the brand) blanket she's had since she was an infant.
  • she likes to do "puhpotties" with me. actually, you may know it as pilates.
  • she really enjoys using the word actually. "actually, i will take my phone in case i need to text somebody. (pause). i just text jason. he said he is playing on his jump jump."
  • she does really well with going potty at school. but anywhere else? she refuses. REFUSES. wth am i supposed to do about that?! nothing works on that girl. not even bribery at its finest. we're talking a tinkerbell watch and a new american girl doll. good stuff. but, nope. nothing.
  • she has gotten b.a.d. lately. she refuses to listen to us, and when she knows i'm about to put her in time out, she'll say, "i'm a good girl. i AM!" she tells us she's a good girl a lot. don't believe her.
  • that said, she is so sweet the majority of the time. this morning, d told her she could not take knuffle bunny outside or to the park with her (all things special must stay inside all the time for fear she might lose it. like her flower towel not long ago). em's response was, "so when i come home, she will be happy to see me?!"

  • stalling before school, which is unusual. i sure do love how she is leaning into me. i hope she won't outgrow this for a while. i also think we look alike here :o)

i think these are her 4th pair of uggs. rotten.

while i was in fort worth for my friend jenni's baby shower...

em stayed home with daddy and showed off for grandmother at ballet.

unfortunately, mommy being gone leaves daddy is in charge of clothes and hair. good thing she has a good smile to distract from that funny side pony.

btw, while i was at puhpotties last night, em asked d, "daddy, is there a mirror there?" d, "why?" em, "so that i can see how pretty i am." glad her self-esteem is where it should be :o)
