guess who's 2 1/2?

i know! my baby girl is a "big girl" now. everyday i feel more of her baby-ness slip away. but i'm okay with that (most of the time), because it is so neat watching her transition. her memory amazes me. she will tell me details about things that happened months ago that even i had forgotten. watch out, nothing gets by this little stinker.

so her stats at 2 1/2. she is almost 31 pounds, maybe 36 inches (i'm guessing), wears a size 7 1/2 or 8 shoe (flip flops) and a 2t, and still hasn't had her first haircut. i'm thinking maybe i'll save that for back to school.

other fun things she's said or done are:

  • ooooh (think 4 syllables). she uses this for a discovery or when she sees something she really likes.
  • she went pee pee on the potty! but only once for us at home. apparently, she will "only go at school." and once she told d, "i not want to go potty at home. i want to go jump jump at the mall." she loves the bungee jump/trampoline they have at the mall and cries when we tell her she's too little. "but i'm twwwwwooooooooo."
  • jumping. she discovered that she could walk on daddy's back and then "1, 2, 3 JUMP!" off. she asked him, "can i jump on your back all day?" yes. "can i jump on your back my whoe yife?"
  • she's figured out that her "whoe yife" is very long.
  • in the mornings, she comes to our room and always wants "under the covers," even if d and i are up and about.
  • she went to the beach for the first time.
  • and the dentist.
  • and the movies. she loved the popcorn and m&ms. that's how i bribed her to sit in her chair. after about 10, i had to let her walk in the aisle because i didn't want her up all night.
  • and the circus! (don't have these pics yet. elna).
  • she's really into pop music right now, thanks to dylan. her song is still the "baby baby song." deeyan's song is omg or the "oh oh oh" song. and aaron's song is "come on the radio," or hey, soul sister. i think this one is actually em's favorite. she sings it nonstop!
  • we were in the car and "rock that body" was on. she told me, "i yike that pompa song!" lol, i think she thought they were saying bootie.
  • before leaving the house one day, she told d, "wait, daddy, let me put on my makeup." her makeup is some icarly lip gloss. she also has a "blackberry" that has lip gloss inside. she was obsessed with that for a while. already?
  • speaking of that, she told monika that when she turns 3, she can wear makeup.
  • she dictates a lot of things to us. "mommy, i not want my stroyer. you will hold me the whole time."
  • she sings "oh where oh where did my little dog go" when she is looking for tanner. this is what she sings, "oh where oh where did my little dog go, oh where oh where is he? he's my favorite thing in my whole wide world, oh where oh where is he?" she also sings this song when she's looking for other things, too. "oh where or where is my other flip flop?"
  • she gives me zerberts. good, non-slobbery, ones. what i love most is that she'll hold my face with both of her little hands while doing it. she also pretends to eat my cheeks, or drink juice from my cheeks, and says, "thanks, i was thirsty!" it really is cute, even though it sounds completely weird. tina.
  • this one has to do with aaron, but was so funny i had to include it. we were out eating and em had a dirty diaper. aaron ran to me and asked, "does memma have squishy pants? go change her."
  • sorry, another poop story, which is unusual since she does not like to go. one morning, d woke up early and went running. we had just finished painting our bedroom the night before so i had to move all the plugs. her monitor was in our bathroom, so i couldn't hear it well. doesn't matter much since she is always so quiet when she wakes up. she'll just play until we come get her. well, that morning, when d got back from running (a little before 8), i was still sleeping. he went to check on em, whose room was stink-y. he cleaned her up, and she came to see me. "mommy, my daddy went running. you did not come check on me, so i have to wait for my daddy." wow. (each night when i put her down, i tell her i will come check on her in a little bit).
  • i'm told she called one of her cousins a poopyhead, but i don't believe it. i don't know where she's ever heard that word.
  • i'm pretty sure she said damnit this morning. and by pretty sure, i mean 100%. she told her daddy that tanner broke her toy and then said, "tanner, damnit" about 4 times. i thought maybe she was saying damaged, but em assured me it was "damnit." i don't use that word, so i don't know where she picked that up. uh oh.
  • em likes to do my hair and put ganchos in it (i learned that this is what our nanny calls a hair clip).
  • she is a human tv guide. she knows the order of her shows on noggin, which, i know, just means she watches too much tv during the day. my favorite is when she tells me that olivia is next. she says, "oh-yee-va."
  • she wants to watch "yo gabba gabba sleep" every day. it was on on demand. until yesterday (now what do i do?!). she loves all the songs on that episode and i even dances to them. she will "wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, stop." then, "hold stiiiiiiill." i have this on video on my phone and will post if it's not too terrible.
  • she stayed up late on the 4th of july. d got her ready for bed then i asked her if she wanted to watch the fireworks with me. she immediately said yes and headed down the stairs to me. then she turned around and asked d, "what's fireworks?" lol, i think she just wanted to get out of going to bed.
  • she tells us we are "yoco" (crazy).
  • lately we've been telling her she cannot go to the mall because it's closed. or school on the weekends because it's closed. or the zoo in the middle of the night for the same reason. she's onto us and told me, "mommy, call the zoo." so i pretended to and told her they said they were closed. so she told me, "call the zoo's mommy." and later, "call the zoo's daddy and ask why they are closed." i even got a, "call the zoo right now."
  • she is loving tigers lately.
  • this week, one of the giraffes at the houston zoo died while giving birth. baby did not make it either. em happened to be at the zoo that morning. when d picked her up after work, she told him that she didn't see the mommy and baby giraffes because, "them were not feeling good. it's so sad."
  • it's fun to see her get excited. she will raise her eyebrows and squeal when i tell her she gets to go to the zoo, go to school, see hg, or go to the pool. it is the sweetest thing to see such innocence and joy in my little girl.
  • btw, hg still isn't aaron's grandma. "his daddy is his. his mommy is his. hg is mine."
  • when i ask her what she wants for dinner, or give her a choice between one thing or another, her favorite response is, "nuh-ting."
  • she still likes asking, "why?" all day long. sometimes if i am lucky, i will give her an answer that is acceptable and she will say, "oh," or "okay." she's tough, that one.
  • she asked d, "daddy, can you give me some doyars so i can buy this set?" we are in trouble already.
  • we had a good 3 weeks this month where she was obsessed with woody and buzz. she always wants to go to the woody and buzz store at the mall (aka the disney store). she needs everything there.
  • she told auntie elna that they were friends because, "you have a matching necklace yike me?" it's no wonder her auntie loves her so much.
  • ba gave her a vintage (and by vintage i mean really, really old. not cool) dish towel that em uses as her "flower power" cape/blanket. she carries it around like linus. she sleeps with it. she is nuts about it.
  • to go along with the hideous towel, she wears some equally not-so-cute tinkerbell flip flops that are too small. courtesy of her auntie tina. em calls them her "fancy flip flops" because they have glitter and a rhinestone. she has not worn any other shoes for a week. sigh.
  • em is wanting a purple big girl bed and does not like her crib anymore.
  • her other favorite saying is, "i don't want to..." this is a lot of fun for us, let me tell you.
  • she asked d, "daddy, why you're not cool like me?" haha.
  • she spent the night at ong and ba's one night just to make a point to us. she demanded we take her over there before bed because she forgot her little purple book there. i told her if she went, she'd have to spend the night there. she said okay. and then willingly went to ba's arms as daddy left. i know she secretly wanted to cry, but she is stubborn (a little like me?) and stayed even though she didn't want to, i'm sure.
  • kisses still make all things better.
