while i start each day out going through my blog roll to catch up on my faves, i'd nearly forgotten that i had my own. this past weekend, something made me check baby em, and i noticed that some of you are still checking in. bless your hearts. it's been 8 months, and you're still around. thank you!
let's see what you've missed since i've been gone. on the personal front, you may remember that i started a new career (now 2 years ago). i went from the only law firm i've ever known to a big oil and gas company. about a year after i transitioned, they announced that they were closing their houston office. nice, huh? so rather than transfer to oklahoma city, i decided to take the severance package and enjoy a couple of months at home with my 5 (now 5.5) year old baby girl. it was so fun getting to experience being a stay at home mom. however, i have to admit that i was the most scatterbrained i have ever been. and while it was hard for me to go back to work, something about it made me feel more like myself. the best part, though, is that i really, really like my new job. it's the perfect hybrid legal/e&p job. i have a great boss who never makes me feel as though i need to make any sacrifies when it comes to my family. i get to be present for every school event, after school activity, and doctor's appointment. i am so grateful for this blessing.
as for emily, she is growing up so fast. last week, we celebrated her "half birthday." she is "five and a half. which is almost 6." she invited a couple of people over (unbeknownst to me)...just aaron and miss taylor. for cake. that i didn't know i was making ;). and don't worry, i've still been keeping a list of all of her emmy-isms for you. i think i have a year's worth, which will take me entirely too long to blog about, but i have high hopes about getting them written down here. stay tuned.
in addition to all of that, we've been enjoying our summer so much. we've stayed busy with lots of play dates and last minute birthday parties/get togethers...the best kind.
stats: 43.5 inches and 43 lbs. at 5.5 years old.
activities this summer: gymnastics, tennis, swimming, soccer, and fit throwing. as in she has one (or eight) every. damn. day. i had no idea this is what five and a half brought.
reading: she's getting close! she can sound out more words than i thought.
iphone: she's better than me. girl can go to itunes and find songs she's heard at camp. she sends texts (that make perfect sense) without me knowing.
favorites: junk food, pilates shirt (her lovey), baby dean (her cousin), gymnastics, mckenna- the american girl, kicking off her shoes as soon as she gets in the car, drawing, the song gone, gone, gone, and playing with her cousins and friends.
i hate to post without pictures, but i rarely log onto a computer these days unless i'm at the office. and there, my computer is on lock down basically so i can't upload any pics. i'll try to do an iphone dump of pics here soon so you can see just how much em has grown! until then, you can follow me on instagram, where i often post pictures of her. (here is where i'd insert a link, but you all know i'm not that fancy. i think my user name is aimeebolton, so search for me and follow along!).
thanks for sticking around this little blog of mine. hope to be back soon! xo
