- she loves to color pictures using mulitple colors. wait, that doesn't sound right. she likes coloring in rainbows. gah, i need to find a picture to show you.
- em loves to ask you how to spell something and then write out the words.
- she went through a phase where she wanted to wear her glitter belt with everything
- "look, a rhombus!" a what?! "a rhombus! it's a shape, mommy."
- she loves to play the quiet game and will make you talk first so she can say, "i winned. you losed."
- are you sick, em? "no, i just have allergies from the weather changing so fast." she heard me say that once and repeated for weeks later.
- "daddy, do the bevos play today?" (this was still during football season). d was so proud.
- she says "wom" not "warm". i still smile each time she says that.
- i forgot to mention, but em has been convinced that when she turned 4, she could chew gum. i forget who put that thought in her mind, miss brittany maybe?, but she loved to tell us that. when we went to disneyworld in september, she started crying as the plane was getting ready to land. i completely forgot about ears popping on airplanes. and poor baby girl was in so much pain, so my mom gave her some gum. lol, i don't know that it worked, but em was soo excited that she forgot all about her ears. she loves gum and we use it to bribe her often.
- she's known what sounds all of the letters make.
- she can count to at least 100. and she recognizes all of the numbers, too. sometimes though, she gets it a little confused. e.g., 140. she'll see that and say, "forty and one hundred"
- "mommy, is it okay if i...is that okay?" usually she'll ask when she's done something wrong or had an accident. e.g., "mommy, is it okay if i make a little mess when i eat my cereal? is that okay?"
- she says "da-cation" instead of "vacation."
- "can i have 2 gummy vitamins that are the same shape but not the same color?" everyday for 2 months she asked this.
- she still says some of her plurals wrong. e.g., knives is knife-es.
- after tanner had his surgery, this was her prayer, "dear god, please help tanner grow his hair back." and when aaron hurt his hand on the treadmill, she said, "thank you for making aaron's hand better."
- she has a song she sings about her fingers. they each have a name- tall man, sister, mother, baby, daddy
- she was so excited that it was december 1st and woke up screaming that it was a new month!
- when she gets cranky and we scold her, she will always say, "i tired." :(
- when you tickle her, she'll always scream, "mercy! uncle!" to get you to stop.
- "first of all..."
- one night, we were singing santa clause is coming to town before bed. this is how it went: "he sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when...(looking at tanner) we better close our eyes and go to sleep!"
- she LOVED elf, her elf on the shelf. after christmas, she cried and cried because elf did not come back. she would leave elf notes often and still (end of feb.) randomly say, "i miss elf."
- she likes using her kid scissors and curly cue scissors (scrapbooking scissors)
- "mommy, do you have any jesus christmas songs like the little lord jeusus asleep in the hay on your iphone?"
- she likes to pinch my cheeks together (with one hand) and say, "chuuuuubb!"
- "do you know why i always want to wear my cheetahlicious shoes with the bow? so that ms. vergess (who is actually ms. burgess) will tell me they are cute. but she hasn't told me yet." o.m.g. seriously?
- i asked d where her pres(byterian) jacket was one morning and she said, "my teachers call it fleece."
- she loves the aflac commercial with the ducks, "major medica boooooy!" and would walk around repeating it and laughing at herself
- when it was cold, she told me, "look at that car's breath!" (exhaust)
- "i want to be an early bird. i don't want to be a luncher." em hates to be the last one picked up at school :( thankfully for my parents, she no longer has to go to after school care and gets picked up early each day. my parents take her to ballet/tap, art class, and sometimes soccer, or just take her to their house for a quick play date until i get off. i love that they are so involved and that she has them. i know it is asking a lot of my parents to pick her up each day, and i am grateful that they love her as much as i do.
- she says "unless" instead of "except." e.g., "let's look everywhere unless the guest room."
- she likes to make a pattern out of everything she does.
- she loved her christmas songs and would sing, "then one froggy christmas eve..." ha! her favorite christmas song this year was taylor swift's "last christmas." she'll still say that is her favorite song right now.
- there are honey words and there are stinging words. apparently, no is a stinging word. and i am not to use it. smart ass.
- "i was a brave girl. brave means when you do not cry." (about seeing santa during her dance class. she was terrified, btw, but did not cry. compare to aaron who screamed, "i love santa!")
- she likes to help me make cookies. when it comes time to cut out the cookies, em always asks if she can help me "stamp" them.
- she was telling me about practicing for her christmas program and said, "ms. knapp said after we sing joy to the world, we have to pause so mom can take a picture" (as she held out her hands like she was reading a book).
- she also got to be the "leader" during "away in a manger"
- "can you give me a favor?"
- "my tummy is full but not my mouth. so can i please have this dessert?"
- her teachers have the neatest way to teach the kids how to write their letters. so when em saw an exclamation point, she asked me what it was. i told her. she thought about it and said, "stick in the mud and a dot on the bottom. an upside down "i". you use that when you are excited." so. stinking. smart.
- she likes for me to "echo" her, i.e., repeat after her.
- "did you know i growed last night?"
- when we were opening gifts christmas morning, she opened something from daddy and then ran and gave him a huge hug. i said, aww, or something like that. then she opened one from me. before she finished, she looked up at me and said, "wait til i see it, mommy, then i will give you a hug." haha.
- have y'all heard of lalaloopsy dolls? we had not until christmas. and now our house is overflowing with them. we have big ones, we have mini ones, and we even have lalaloopsy littles. they are these little rag dolls. think if gwen stefani were a doll. anyway, they have button eyes and a stitch mouth. and no nose. one evening, em went to the kitchen and asked d for a wet paper towel. he immediately questioned why, thinking she spilled something. she would not give him an answer. finally, she said, "i need it for my lalaloopsy. i putted a nose on her." and she needed to wipe it off. except she used a sharpie. :) she later told me that she was going to putted a nose on all of them because they "need a nose."
- me: "em, how do you know that?" em: "god put it in my head."
- excuse the inappropriateness of this, but i have to include it so i won't forget. "mommy, your boobies are so big. bigger than daddy's. and your belly is big too. big like you're about to have a baby. like you're about to have me." then she lifts up her shirt, sticks out her belly and says, "look! my belly is big, too!"
- she calls puss and boots "poos and boots".
- "why do you always call me honey? i want you to call me goose." i also call her stinky, baby girl, button, and mems. goose is her favorite, though.
- there are honey words and there are stinging words. sometimes when i tell her no, she'll tell me that "no is a stinging word. and you're only allowed to use honey words."
- "...the erf (earth). you know, the whole woold. it's the erf." hahaha. i LOVE that she still can't say everything perfectly.
