as with most things lately, valentine's day seemed like an afterthought for me. as i've mentioned 3 or 50 times since summer, i have a new job. being a full time litigator was just making me, oh...miserable. i felt like i was sacrificing so much time away from my family. and even though i managed to keep decent hours for an attorney, my time at home was so stressful. i felt like i was never fully "there". i was always stressed, and i could never leave the stresses of the offices there. that was not fair to emily or donnie. so i finally made the jump! i am really enjoying my new job. while it comes with stresses of its own, those are mostly due to the novelty of a new career and learning a new business. when i leave the office, i never check my blackberry. i don't worry about rush deadlines. it is
so nice. so why the lack of posting? before, i spent all day at my desk and often broke up my day by typing a little here and there. now, when i'm at the office, i am in meetings all the time and have little "me" time. when i'm home, i am in full mommy mode and am so exhausted by evening that all i want to do is go to bed. as for blogging, i'm going to try to play catch up from this summer, but for now, i'm just going to start with the present and see if i can keep up with that!
so valentine's day. i am so disappointed in myself this year for not doing something special. since i was too lazy to do any baking, i left it to emily to prepare her class valentines. and they are CUTE!
putting jewels/sparklies on her valentines
we had to address them to "friend". em kept asking if she could just put "fri" on them. haha.
(pardon her funny hair and t-shirt. this was after soccer practice).
she was so cute putting all the goodies in the boxes.
gotta love central market before a holiday. it was like going through a chocolate buffet this weekend!
(i'm dying over the way em has her little ankle's crossed here).
i left a little surprise for emily and tanner this morning. i hear that they were both very excited. since it was dark and i was pretty much still asleep, i didn't realize that you couldn't see any of the contents of the basket. i filled it with notepads, princess lipglosses, candy, a puzzle, and some heart shaped measuring cups and spoons- em's favorite.
here are some pics that d sent me from this morning:
how big is she?!
happy valentine's day!
