41 months!

we are one month shy of being 3 1/2 years old around here!  a few months ago,  em thought everything cool happened when you were 4.  but lately, emily is convinced that 3 1/2 y.o. is the age to be.  you know i hate for her to grow up, but i have to say, i'm hoping 3 1/2 brings big things.  (like pooping in the potty.  our child is stubborn, y'all.  she's been saying she won't poop in the potty until she's 3 1/2.  we have had some luck, though.  she'll sit there for 20 minutes "trying" to go while reading books.  i guess we have to start somewhere).

here are some of the things our not quite 3 1/2 year old  is saying/doing these days:
  • "is the cheek of my butt showing?"  haha.
  • she's loving salena gomez ("goma") and knows most of the words to who says and naturally.
  • lemonade mouth is another favorite cd of hers.
  • to auntie, "i am a girl and aaron is a boy.  that's whys i am prettier."
  • "pretty mommy!  you're the prettiest mommy i ever wanted."
  • she doesn't like me in glasses.  "off glasses, mommy?  please.  off glasses?" but i need them to see.  "no, you aren't old like ong and ba."  yes, i am.  "no, you are new."
  • sometimes when she really wants something, she will ask me and i'll respond.  just to make sure she understood, though, she'll say, "yes or no?  yes?!"
  • she likes to put her drawings and special pictures on the refridgerator.  if i put them up high, she'll ask for them.  she likes them down low so she can see them better.
  • she insisted on spending the night at aaron's house.  auntie said it was okay, and em never looked back.  she did really well!
  • "ba says, 'hu qua!' to kiddos when they do bad things.  that means 'no, no' in english."
  • "no, i mean..."  we nipped that in the bud very quickly.  e.g., she would tell us she was going to eat a piece of candy for breakfast.  we would tell her that was not okay, and she'd respond with, "no, i mean i was going to just take one bite and then save the rest for later."  no.  ma'am.  this weekend, she heard dylan say, "no, i mean..." and she walked right up to his mommy and said, "my daddy says i cannot say 'no, i mean.'"
  • "i can't put my make up on aaron because when his mom comes downstairs she will say, 'what a mess you are aaron!'"
  • she calls super glue "figure glue."  i think that's because the first time we used it around her, it was to fix one of her figurines.
  • "can we say oh my?"  yes.  "can we say oh my goodness?"  sure.  "can we say oh maaaahhhhh?"  who says that?!  "hg!"  (in case you haven't figured it out, em's hg is from east texas and has a pretty thick accent)
  • she convinced her nanny and auntie that mommy allows her to drink sweet tea.  lol.  such is not the case.
  • she calls snickers (candy) "sneekers."
  • she asked me to tell her a story one night, so i told her about a lady who used to be free and think of only herself.  then one day, she found out she was going to have a baby girl.  she was so excited and from that day on, forgot her selfish ways.  (hey, it's my story, lol).  when i was done, she asked, "hmm, was that little girl named emily kate bolton?"
  • she likes to type/text.  she'll even press send.  after i heard em yell at the phone, "i'm typing and it's not doing anything!" i took my phone from her and examined.  apparently she was chatting with my SIL and my SIL thought there was something wrong with my phone.  if i recall correctly, her texts read, "i don't understand what you are saying...i think there is something wrong with your phone.  nothing is making sense...it's like jibberish."  haha.
  • the next day, i got a text from our nanny that said, "i. love you."  then another that said, "from emily."
  • anything leopard or cheetah print is "cheetahlicious."  and bras?  she calls them "cheetahlicious boobies."
  • she hides in my closet (door shut) to try on my shoes.
  • i still see so much of me in her.  including the way she hurts and gets sad.  and when she's embarrassed, she acts just like i used to.  and honestly, i hate seeing that because she is just so quiet.  if her feelings are hurt or if she is sad, she just keeps to herself.  i hope she will outgrow this as she gets older.
  • she is so smitten with her new baby cousin.  she loves to love on him, hug him, kiss him, and hold him.  but ask her if she wants a baby brother or sister and she'll say, "i just want a baby cousin."  good girl.

showing off what a good job daddy did at getting her ready while i was in chicago.

success again!

What a sweet picture with her new baby cousin! You sure you can't talk her into a little sibling?
