we celebrated christmas with donnie's family on the eve of christmas eve so that all the kids could be there. (his brother is remarried. shaylea is his, and emma and taylor are misty's).
emily was a little confused at why santa came early and left gifts for her at grandmother's. he brought her this american girl bunk bed and something else- possibly a disney art thing with stickers? sorry! so many gifts, it's hard to keep track!
mr. kyle had given each of the kids a big box so they could put all their gifts in it to take home. em tried a few times to put this bed in it. i kept telling her to just put it next to the box. she looked at me and said desperately, "but i want to take this home." she must have thought that if it didn't go in the box, it wasn't coming home with her. bless her heart.
after that, she walked up to me with her head down and whispered very quietly, "but mommy, santa didn't bring me my princess scooter." you could tell she was sooo upset over this but didn't want anyone to see. i had to explain to her that santa knew she would be at grandmother's early so he dropped off some things for before christmas. if she was really good, he would likely come back to her house on christmas eve. this seemed to make things better. :o)

emma (8), emily (35 months), and shaylea (7). emily absolutely adores her older cousins. if ever any of them were outside her line of sight, you'd hear this, "emmmmaaaa? shaaaayleeeea?"

uncle dave and shay. and just fyi for those who don't have older kids. you'll have to shop at this store called justice for them. it is just awful. this was the most subtle thing i could find on their website. here's to hoping trends change in a few years so that i don't have to do that again for em!

aunt misty, uncle dave, and shay

haha! emma thought her tiny 50 lbs would make a dent in the trash box. emily thought it was so funny and climbed right in after her.

look how long em's hair has gotten. she is still refusing her first haircut because she wants her hair long like "rapunzel
ed." thankfully, aunt misty later told her a secret. if she trims her hair, just a tiny bit, it will grow longer faster. hopefully i will find some time before her birthday to make an appointment. but i have to say, i will be sad to see those light, light brown curls at the end go away for good :(

grandmother, mr. kyle (aka grandmother's daddy), and champagne (the dog, not the drink). em calls all husbands/boyfriends so-and-so's daddy. it is so cute.

all the kids.

cute girls! em was tired of opening all the gifts and just wanted to go back outside to play. it wasn't as easy to convince her cousins to go with her, but they eventually did. it was very sweet of them.

this is taylor. he is the sweetest boy in the world. em just LOVES him. he had her laughing all night long by asking her, "what is this?!" (it was carrots). we knew she must be deliriously tired at that point, so we called it a night. more celebrations to come!
