our big a.s.s. weekend

i think this was our 5th annual spring/summer/seasonal social (or what we call the a.s.s.). i just love the excuse to see all our old friends every year. this was em's first year to attend the a.s.s., and i think she had a blast. everytime she woke up (either in the morning or after a nap), she'd ask, "where my friends, mommy?" even though she is super shy, she is so social and loves playing and interacting with others.

living in the city, she doesn't get to run free outside in huge yards ever. she had so much fun playing hide and seek, swinging in the hammock, swimming in the lake, and playing all weekend. oh, and she also went fishing. paul caught a fish, and she thought it was so cool, but she wanted absolutely nothing to do with the fish. lol, just like her momma.

all that playing and craziness did result in a couple of new booboos, but em was no worse for the wear. nothing a few kisses couldn't make better. even poor little tanner came home with a booboo, after getting into a mini-altercation with april, the stuses' dog. (tanner was too close to her food. she didn't know that tanner couldn't care less about dog food. he gets hand fed every night, and really prefers cheese and table food!). em was so concerned about her brother and kept asking me, "why april bit tanner? is tanner okay? you put medicine on him?"

tanner was equally concerned about em all weekend. i guess since we were all in a new place, and there were a bunch of people tanner didn't know? em had a hard time going to bed our first night there. after laying with her for a half hour, she finally was okay with me leaving her to fall asleep. so tanner and i left. even though he is not a lap dog, tanner never leaves my side, especially when we are somewhere unfamiliar. while kel and i were getting the next day's breakfast ready, we heard tanner crying and scratching at the door. i thought he wanted to go outside with d, but when i looked, he was scratching at em's bedroom door. you've heard me say more than once that he really doesn't like her much, so imagine my surprise. when i opened the door, he ran straight over to the bed. i picked him up and set him on the bed, where he snuggled right next to em and stayed there the rest of the night. such a good, protective brother!

and here's the rest of our weekend in pictures:
d, relaxing with em and jonah.

kel took em to the garden so they could pick some fruits/veggies. em is showing me her loot here- a banana pepper, one blackberry, and 2 cherry tomatos. kel let her eat a few blackberries outside, hence the pink fingers and lips!

jonah the vampire, enjoying his fresh blackberries

and this is pretty much what we did all weekend...a whole lot of nothing. ahh, so nice.

this is the first time i've let em play with play doh. i'm sure she's played with it at school, but i honestly think it smells awful, so i haven't bought any for her. that night, when she was going to sleep, she told me we needed to go to the grocery store the next day so she could buy some play doh. so that's what we did once we got home. how could i say no?

she loved jumping into the lake with daddy

and now she's helping kel give the big kids a bath. i can't remember what she's telling kelly, but i know it was important!

hide and seek- not sure if she quite understood the concept. miss savy found her fast.

now she gets it. she's hiding behind the tree waiting for jonah.

and they are off to find the others. look at his hand on her back. so sweet!

this has got to be my favorite moment of the weekend...

my <3

thanks again stus family for a wonderful weekend! we can't wait until next year!
