mommy is still counting months. we're at 25.

is she too old for me to still be doing this? probably. but i still like to document the things she does each month so i'll never forget. bare with me, please.
  • emily turns statements into questions. like, "daddy, you have my green chee choo?" or, "daddy, you have an acorn in your pocket?" "mommy, that your brush?" "that for me?"
  • she loves looking for the moon at night. everytime we go somewhere, she will say, "where's moon?" and if she doesn't see it, she'll say, "mommy, i not see moon. only twinkle stars."
  • she knows everything! and if she doesn't, she'll ask, "what's that, mommy?"
  • lately, she's been getting longer baths and showers since it's so cold. this causes her fingers and toes to get pruney. she discovered this when she rubbed her fingers together and got a little freaked, "mommy! what happened to my pinky finger? what happened?" she knows it's because she was in the water too long and she thinks it's funny. now she even says, "yook, i have pruneys."
  • she knows if you put an "s" at the end of someone's name, that makes it possessive. like, "that mommy's drink." but if it's hers, well, she'll say, "that my's." lol.
  • clementine, the bully, is now her friend.
  • she loves stickers. she puts them everywhere, including on her dolls, her toys, my floor.
  • she still wants to do everything by herself. "no, i do it by MYself!"
  • she's really good at properly using him, his, her, he, she, you, me, etc. she knows he's a boy and it's his, or she's a girl and it's hers.
  • she surprises us all the time with her sentences. like the other day, she was watching a new barney dvd in the car. after the song "london bridge," she clapped and said, "daddy, i really yike that song." now she'll add, "(re)wind it for me."
  • she tells me thank you when i least expect it. i'll tell her "i love you, baby." and she'll say, "thank you, mommy." or she'll be playing quietly by herself and i'll say, "you are being so good." "thank you, mommy." the other day, i randomly her a big hug and she told me, "thank you, mommy." aww!
  • when she wants to convince us of something, she'll turn what's usually a question into a statement and add raised eyebrows and a few nods of her head. e.g., "just one chee choo" or, "only one" (usually this is a piece of candy or her chee choo).
  • she finally will admit to us that she's tired and is ready to go to bed, or "night, night" as she calls it. this does not mean she'll put herself to sleep.
  • i think she experienced what it feels like when your arm falls asleep. she awoke from a nap one afternoon crying, which is unusal. when i got up to her room, she held out her hand and was pointing to her hand, screaming "hurt hand, hurt hand" over and over. though she barely let me look, i found nothing upon inspection. a couple minutes later, she was just fine.
  • she puts her babies in time out. we have only put her in time out once, and that was in early december. pretty sure she sees aaron in time out and that's where she got this from.
  • oh, she also puts herself into time out.
  • she's really into taking turns. "your turn. (pause) now my turn." or "take tuuuurns!" she's pretty good at waiting for her turn, too. i think it's so sweet because she will stand and observe for a good while until she finally announces that it's her turn. unless she's with me or d, or her auntie elna, she usually doesn't get her turn. :o(
  • she had to have x-rays taken. thanks to me slamming her hand in the car door. update: yesterday, she saw donnie put her froggy ice pack in her lunchbox and "told on me." she told d, "i put my hand on that when i have booboo. i go sit down and i hold it."
  • she wants to know what happened to (fill in the blank) all the time.
  • she got 3 new molars this month. i think she's done teething now. she has 20 teeth.
  • she likes to delegate tasks. "mommy, you hold baby and my purse. daddy, you hold me. i hold everything."
  • she likes to watch barney and imitate the kids as they dance. her favorite dances are to twinkle, twinkle litte star and flying in an airplane.
  • donnie uses a hair dryer on em's hair everyday. it is still pretty thin, but it's getting so long!
  • as soon as she hears the shower running in the morning, she dashes for the bathroom and starts undressing.
  • i was bathing her one morning and she said, "mommy, you yash my booty booty with bubbles?" hehe. (btw, she always says booty booty. never booty).
  • she's done this for a while now, but she can put on her own shoes without putting them on the wrong feet. when she takes them off, she'll do so without using her hands. and then she'll pull off her socks and put one into each of her shoes. lol.
  • ever since she got her cowgirl boots on valentine's day, she has wanted to wear them. she dreams about them. seriously. "emy wear my boots!" she said this in her sleep. the first thing out of her mouth each morning has been "my boots! wear my boots!" she falls asleep hugging them. donnie got her ready for her bath the other night (i.e., took off all her clothes). she took off running and returned wearing just her boots. yes, she is that kid.
  • she figured out how to play her puzzle game on my iphone within minutes. she knows how to select the puzzles, play, and then start over.
  • she had an interview for (possibly) her new school. i'm not sure i'd say she failed, but she certainly did not ace it. she was probably being modest.
  • she knows all the words to "the best mouse cookie," "if you give a mouse a cookie," and "goodnight moon," among others. she wants to read these 3 books, in that order, each night. i've also heard her reading the books to her babies. word for word. each page. i know! genius.
  • some other phrases she says that make me laugh are, "oh, i know!" (as if she had a revelation) and "lemme see" or "lemme do." "Let's do..." is used when she wants me to participate.
  • She does this hilarious voice that is sort of cookie monster-ish. the face she makes is the best. it's almost like her kiss face, but she tucks her chin under. i think this is how she achieves the deepness in her voice. i'll ask her something like, "do you want to eat dinner?" and she'll respond using this voice/face and say, "no." i cannot help but laugh everytime.
  • she has dislikes and likes and will tell me. "i no yike tarbucks milk. i onyee yike new milk at my home." she also likes and dislikes people, but i'm not allowed to mention specifics. (ha!)

sorry, i used up all my pics in the last 2 posts. i'll take some more and add them later.

If it makes you feel any better I still update Jonah's journal month by month and did it for Alex until she turned four, now I just update hers every now and then. It is so fun looking back at what the accomplished, said and did when they were small. You definitely don't want to forget those precious memories.
